Stopped in for an impromptu dinner while visiting Detroit for a conference. I was pleasantly surprised by the classy, modern... atmosphere then surprised again by the sophisticated cocktail menu. Every drink had an interesting and complex twist on aclassic drink. I ordered the Dog Days Negroni with a burger for dinner. The burger was cooked exactly as I ordered and toppedwith delicious sauteed mushrooms. The cocktail was, hands down, one of the best negronis I've ever drank. I will be visitingagain when I'm back in Detroit and encourage everyone to give this place a try. Read more

Amazing bar! First time in Detroit we stumbled on this cool looking alley with lots of people and great night life. Saw this... spot at the end of the alley and we had to check it out! Josh behind the bar served us some fantastic cocktails. Ask for TheLast Word if you wanna taste a Detroit classic. What a great find in downtown Detroit in Belt Alley. If you aren't familiar with this area it has beautiful art from around the... world on the buildings in the alley. There are lots of dining and drink establishments to choose from, very cool very hip.Standby looks good, the greeters are friendly and the waitress was so thoughtful with her description of the menu and drinkchoices. The food is small plate , limited in number of choices but you should try everything that strikes your fancy, be ausenothing was a disappointment. Read more
If you're here for unique cocktails good start. How about a bacon infused four roses bourbon with maple simple syrup, but wait... have you tried the Benton old fashioned paired with the standby burger yet?! Standby is true to its name. Went to Standby few times already, never disappointed. Sometimes a short wait to get in after 10pm, but it's worth it. Great... cocktail selection, even better mixology masters behind the bar. If bar hopping, this is the spot to refuel ;P for hour or two,drinks are good and strong, so know your limit it can catch up quick. Shout out to Josh!! You know your sh*t!
