I was surprised I never noticed this place. The food was good and atmosphere was great. There was a separate side of the place... for the bar where you could smoke. There was a stage for live bands. We actually found this restaurant accidentally while on vacation. There are 2 sides, one smoking and one non-smoking, although... the one side is glassed enclosed, the smell still permeates to the non side, the only downside. The food was fresh, tastedgreat, the staff was incredibly friendly, helpful and accommodating with food allergies I have, both soy and gluten. Their menuis perfect, they do not have to many items where you feel overwhelmed with choices. It was a little dated, however it wasclean. Read more
Price drinks are good but food is just ok. Also the waitresses are hit or miss. I only go on Saturday nights but my friends and... I definitely avoid certain waitresses. They are rude and slow to come and check on you but then get mad when you order straightfrom the bar. They seem to be more worried about flirting with security guards then actually waiting on their tables. The crowdis hit or miss as well. I have been for Lunch at this location twice and both on Tuesday's for lunch and got the Texas 3-way chili and Tuesday is 'all... you can eat' chili. both times service was decent, but keep in mind you are at a chili/bar and this is not the Waldorf Astoria.Both times I went, one serving was all I could eat. Yesterday, the portion size was really generous, i even got a chili sampler(after I already ordered my Texas chili) and the corn bread was good, moist, warm, slightly sweet, and the chili was very hot(temperature). So I haven't encountered any of the negative things that others are posting about, maybe Tuesday for lunch is thebest time to go? I lived in Old Town Alex years ago and used to walk the the 1800 block to frequent the original location and ofcourse the atmosphere there is great. had a different vibe back then (30 yrs ago) the location in springfield is just way toosmokey. Food has gone way downhill, service was mediocre, the place was run down and filthy dirty! I have been coming to this restaurant... since they opened and I'm one of the original "Bill's Backers" Hardtimes use to have one of the best NY strip steaks in town,always cooked to perfection, with a nice fresh baked hot potato. Fresh crisp cold salads, and, or fresh hot veggies. Food wasalways hot food hot and cold food cold with aggressive friendly service from the staff and Manager's. But anymore, what adisappointment!
