I lived in Goldsboro for about 5 yrs and didn't discover Barrique until I came back a year later. We go everytime. My friend and I actually ate at the 18th Ammendment Lounge which is located upstairs above Barrique. I think the restaurant was... booked for a private event. Nevertheless, everything was wonderful. From the cocktails, the appetizer to the entree... wecouldn't have been happier! Started slow with their award winning fried green tomatoes. I was skeptical, but they really werefantastic. So good that I forgot to take a photo. The tomatoes were so good that we decided to stay for dinner. We split theiceberg salad and the Mahi Mahi. We sat at the bar and the service was great. I forgot her name but she was charming andattentive. If there's anything at all that could have been improved upon... the fried green tomatoes were cold by the time wegot them. The bartender was definitely stretched thin and I think they may sat for a bit while she juggled multiple tables whilerunning up and down the stairs. I'll definitely be back! Read more

First time here. My wife and I went here as a last minute decision. It kind of looks closed from the street but trust me it is... not. During this difficult time they are using the upstairs dining area as the main dining room. Although if you have troublewith stairs they will seat you down stairs. They have done a wonderful job with this old building. It is very nice inside. Ourwaiter, Matt, took us o. A tour after our meal and showed us the outside seating area, the wine cellar and wine bar, multiplebathrooms, the open kitchen and of course the upstairs full bar and lounge area. Ok for the food. We started with homemade chipsand dip topped with brisket. Holy cow!!! That brisket was absolutely amazing!! We were not very hungry so we decided to get aburger and fries. Wow!! The perfectly cook burger was topped with house made pimento cheese, bourbon bacon and a fried greentomato all on a toasted bun. Good grief!! The fries were awesome as well. Our drinks were perfect thanks to Walker, the awesomebartender. Although I am stuffed I already want to go back. They were very attentive and we were introduced to all of the staffthat was working. I was very pleased with the quant and warm atmosphere which is perfect for date nights, plans for an Anniversary or birthday... celebration. The staff was courteous and prompted. The meals were very good. The hidden jem they have was on their 2nd floor.They have live music, a bar and plenty of tables and chairs and leather chairs to relax and enjoy the ambiance. Read more
The poor server was alone and dealing with both floors, the bottom floor was reserved for a private party. The owner was even... helping. I was let down at first after reading the reviews; we waited almost an hour. Couple of missteps with drinks and sidesnot being available. The chef saved the day, the food was phenomenal.
