Was passing thru Grand Rapids and wanted to have some Asian food so stopped by Maru. Overall decent meal. The waitress was so... friendly and cheerful it brightened up the meal. Based on the ingredients I’m assuming the owner is korean since lot of Koreaningredients. Definitely a fusion restaurant and if you are expecting a authentic Japanese restaurant Maru isn’t that. Howeverthe food was still tasty and the fusion flavours were very good. 4 stars vs 5 since it took 30min to get our 4 rolls despite therestaurant not being very crowded. Read more

They have a really amazing happy hour from 4-5pm (Monday through Friday) with great specials on drinks and food! I’d recommend... trying one of the sangrias or other drinks on special. They also have discounted food options including gyoza, fried tofu, andedamame as well as 15% off select signature sushi rolls. The chairs at the bar were super comfortable and the service was niceas well. Definitely worth checking out for Happy Hour but also in general. Read more

The food is good. Not the kind of authentic Japanese flavor but it’s the fusion style I like. A bit slow. We came at about... 11:30am but waited almost 40 mins before the entrees came. The price is relatively high but match its quality of food. Read more

Amazing food, best sushi I’ve had hands down. Fresh, beautiful presentation in food and drink, and perfect portion sizes.... It’s pricey but you absolutely get what you pay for and even a little more :) will definitely be back Read more

Not a huge fan of the specialty items, as most things were named something personalized with uncommon items added to the rolls.... The atmosphere was decent, one roll I enjoyed most was The Crazy Ex Girlfriend. The crab Rangoon dip was tasty but won't besatisfying if you're looking for that classic deep fried wonton, crab and cream cheese mixture. It can be a great place forspecial occasions, I'll give it that Read more

Our dinner at maru was so delicious! We were going to try more but just decided to get a bunch of different sushi rolls. We sat... at the bar/counter and I have to say it was very enjoyable to see the cooks at work rolling away. Plus! You get to see all theother delicious looking things to try next time. Because there will be ALOT more next times!!! *Also we got one of the bestdesserts I have ever had! Red velvet creme brulee. Trust me, this is a must have!!!???????????? Read more

Loved the trip to Maru today! Just like Ando, there is a great selection of sushi and other items for those who don't want... sushi. The nirvana roll lives up to it's name! This was also our first experience with sake and it was great to have a flightoption for that. All around a great experience, don't hesitate if you need a sushi fix! Read more

Overall, Maru sushi is a good place to eat. The seating is a little awkward just because traffic goes right in between the... tables, but no restaurant is perfect. Besides that, the food is good. The wait staff is very friendly and attentive. The hostesswas prompt and friendly. If you are looking to get a booth, I would suggest making a reservation in advance. Not the best sushiin town, but pretty damn close. Read more
