Brisket was dry, flavor was ok..i had to choke it down..portions are fantastic..and the beans and mac and cheese go well... together. Separately they are ok..the mac and cheese is under seasoned and the beans over seasoned so they balance out whenbeing put together.. Corncake was fantastic! Read more
My husband and I had the privilege of being invited to a Wonderful evening of shopping, dinner, and drinks by the lovely,... proprietors of Laurel and Jack in Ada last evening. While there we were blessed with the BEST tasting chicken we've ever had! We live in Holland and can't wait to come back to The Pit in Grand Rapids! We've, already, decided when our next opportunityfor catering presents itself we will be calling on "The Pit" if they will come to Holland, OR, we will certainly pick it up! Seriously, if you haven't checked this food out, do yourself a favor go try for yourselves! Kudos to these two businesses thatknow what they are doing! Glad I stopped by Pit Stop today. More food than I could eat in one sitting. Brisket had a great smoke ring, tender and... flavorful. This is the $12 platter and there is enough for two meals. You can tell the BBQ sauce, beans and mac & cheese are allhomemade. Cant wait to go back Read more
First visit so I am being a little open minded. I ordered the brisket platter. Portion size is not a problem at all, kudos to... you! The sides, I had the beans Delish!! The cheesy tots Very good!!. The brisket....tasted more like dried out roast. Theychunk instead of slice which might be part of the problem and/or how long it was cooked or sat before I was given my serving. It had a very nice bark but was way too dry for good brisket. I will try here again as I have heard great things about thisplace but for my first visit they are barely getting 3 stars. Read more
Located in a strip mall by Pal's Diner. This is a small place with no inside seating and a couple of picnic tables outside. ... Kind of like Subway where you order on one side and pay on the other. Just 1 warning they are only open on Thursday & Friday! Iordered the 2 meat platter: Brisket and Pulled Pork. It comes with 2 sides: I got Mac n Cheese and Smokey Beans. Plus it comeswith a Cornbread Muffin. Both the Brisket and Pulled Pork were very good, however in my opinion the Pulled Pork was by far thebest. Pork was top 5 and Brisket Top 10. The Mac n Cheese was ok, not great. The Smokey Beans were very good. Not in my top 5,but very good. The Cornbread was excellent. This was in my top 5. Lastly the bbq sauce was Amazing, One of the best I've everhad. Easily in my top 5. I also got an Apple Cobbler with a Caramel Bourbon Sauce on top. It was very yummy. Overall a 4 1/2star experience. The sides mean I can't round up so sadly that means the rating becomes a 4. Will I be back? Yes, good bbq ishard to find and a Great BBQ Sauce is even harder! I went back today and had the Meatloaf with Baked Beans and Polish MashedPotatoes. Wow. The Meatloaf was excellent. The Polish Mashed Potatoes are outrageous. Easily in Top 5 best Mashed Potatoes I'veever had. Awesome! The beans were much improved and very good. Corn Muffin is still excellent. I even bought a bottle of theirbbq sauce. This is now my new #1 bbq place in Grand Rapids. Sorry Slows I still love you, but Pit Stop is better. Upgradingrating to 5 stars. See ya soon Pit Stop. Read more
Food: 5+++ stars, Service: 4 stars (see below) Seating: Be ready to fight for a seat at one of the few picnic... tables Food: This is a friggin outstanding barbeque spot. They dish out large servings of brisket, pulled pork, chicken andsausage. I've taken several friends and coworkers here and we've all be raves how good EVERYTHING was. Highly recommend theBrisket Wraps. If your so luck, they occasionally have a smoked corned beef Reuben wrap. Oh..and plan to bring the kids home a6 pack of their AMAZING corn bread muffins. They go nuts for them ???????? Service: Because they are only open Thursday andFriday...the place is always slammed..no..like crazy slammed. So you need to planned ahead and plan to wait.
