We were so pleased with our afternoon at Calera. Other than the stunning views, the service was personalized and authentically... sincere (we were a bit nervous about bringing our 5 year old but the staff truly made all of us feel so welcome!) Being a hugePinot fan, really enjoyed the trio on the tasting menu which was preceded by a lovely Chenin Blanc, my first in California.Finished with Carneros Merlot by Duckhorn, the parent company. Loved the warm sunlight on our necks with an occasional softbreeze. Read more

The wine is great this year. We had a 2017 Chardonay and a Reed pinot. We sat in the shade and enjoyed the view. Get a cheese... snack tray too! Read more

This was a great stop! The wine tasting was delicious. Special thanks to Claire, who was lovely. She was very knowledgeable,... both about the wine and the local area. She gave us some great recommendations. We will be back! Read more

Self proclaimed pinot experts, although the ones I sampled were okay. My palette is probably not refined enough. Very... knowledgeable and experienced staff made the wine tasting more enjoyable. Doesn't have the same feel as a local winery sincethey were purchased by another large winery. All the wines I sampled had too many tannins for my taste. Read more

The search for this property was almost Homeric, and the results are excellent Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and the Viogniers are... brilliant. The physical plant is attractive and the gravity feed for moving the product from the trucks to the bottles isingenious, if borrowed. The staff is knowledgeable and entertaining. Oh, and the owner is a first rate blogger/curmudgeon. Read more

Great Winery, very good wines, some excellent. Beautiful location. Building is ''Smart",using gravity to move wine and juice.... Interesting fact, it was done before "Green" became popular .All people who love wine, interested to learn and taste excellentquality product need to put Chalera on "must visit" list.I am not working there, but like to make sure new wine enthusiasts notmissing great opportunity. Remote Location can be an issue for people like me. Read more

We absolutely LOVE Calera! Not only is their wine fabulous and our favorite out of all the local wineries, but the staff is... always very warm and friendly, the owner has been nothing but pleasant when we've seen him there, and last but not least theincredibly gorgeous views from right outside the tasting room are SOworth the drive up there! Time and again, we have been veryglad we became members there and left the other ones we had tried. Not that there are any bad wineries in San Benito, but Caleratruly stands out and exceeds our expectations! Read more
