What a pleasant surprise. We have lived in Traverse City for years & have driven by The Platte River Inn so many times... commenting that we need to eat there some day. Finally did it & can't wait to go back. We are previous restaurantowner/operators & tend to be very picky diners, always watching & waiting for something to go wrong. Never happened. The BLTwith home made fries, Chicken Parmesan with Garlic Bread (I got 4 meals out of 1 order) & the Perch Dinner along with generousdinner salads were more than we expected. Quite unbelievable how tasty & fresh the food was as well as the heaping portions. Ontop of the awesome food we were quite surprised at how terrific our server, Ashley was. She was attentive without beingoverpowering & she knew what we needed before we had to ask. She was sooooooo busy, bartending, serving, bussing etc. She wasthe only one we saw working in the bar section of the restaurant. Always had a smile & seemed to genuinely care about hercustomers. Don't know how she does it. What a great employee & what a positive testament she gave to working at The Platte RiverInn. Read more
The service was excellent. The restaurant is clean, lovely and there is plenty of space between tables. We arrived when they... opened for breakfast and within 15 minutes, the place was nearly full. We both enjoyed our food. The portions are plentiful andeverything was cooked exactly how we like it. The hasbrowns were crisp and my over medium eggs were perfect with solid whitesand lovely runny yolk. My husband's scrambled eggs were very fluffy. The ham was delicious, and the smokey bacon was reallynice. We will be returning here soon! Read more
My husband's food was hot. Mine was cold. I paid 12.95 before taxes for this meal. Then the waitress was not rude but not very... helpful. I work in hospitality. I understand over stress and such. But cold food which you can see is cold. I took this pic notmore then 2 minutes after i got it. Plus the table that came after us got there order taken 1st. Was my 2nd visit to this place the food is always made with fresh ingredients, and the portions always leave me with a good... snack for later nice wait staff beer was fresh and crisp. I'll be there again soon. Heck maybe tomorrow Today I stopped in tothe Platte River Inn for a burger and beer I was quickly attended to although my server was condenseding in nature and rude. Iordered a beer and bowl of chili as an appetizer ,French fries and 1/2# jalapeño burger. The chili was good with diced celery,onion, hamburger, kidney beans, diced stewed tomatoes seasoned with cumin and chilipowder. The fries were Luke warm skin onstraight cut floppy fries they were ok id cook them longer and serve them hot you know the cook dropped and pulled thefries too early. The burger was good the tomatoe slices were unexceptional they actually put hard crunchy tomato end slicesthe green butt part on my sandwich. dose anyone like eating that? Try using tomato ends in the diced tomatoes mixed in, yourwelcome furthermore things like serving tomato butts got passed the cooks and wate staff. My replacement slices of tomato was flawless why was that not put on my sandwich in the first place? Ok anyhow, the burger was between a nice regular whiteBunn lettuce and tomato cooked properly and topped with caramelized onion and jalapeños & melted Swiss not too spicy tastepretty good. Great place in a small town! The servers were friendly, the food was great, they had a few local beers in addition to the usual... suspects, and they even have euchre game nights for the locals to come out. I had the perch and it was fried to perfection, nottoo much batter and it was juicy. The fries were natural cut and also fried perfectly without too much oil/grease to them. Stopped here lastnight for some food and drinks.. Unfortunately the kitchen had just closed but it was after 11pm so I get it.... However the waitress Ashley was super friendly and had we not been hungry we would of 100% stuck around. If I'm ever back in thearea I will be stopping in for some food and drinks before 11pm :) Read more
Platte River Inn has breakfast until 2pm on a Saturday. Service was spot-on, price was great, and food was delicious. Perfect... eggs over medium. I would go back. Read more
