The fish grouper was frozen fish sticks that were gooey and fluffy. Just not good at all. Maybe should of gotten a hamburger... instead. Read more

I saw the reviews, but remained skeptical. I came out of it with a great meal and wonderful server. Sat outside which had some... challenges to keep the sun out of our faces with spinning umbrellas. The waiter was great, she had good suggestions that thefamily loved. The ceviche was delicious as was the Sea Bass. Kids couldn't stop raving about the meatballs. The Kentuckymule was perfect. I would definitely recommend. And enjoy the funny conversations from the residential balconies above. Read more

The Landing Restaurant is HANDS DOWN the best dining experience at Smith Mountain Lake. Chef Bruno has done a fantastic job at... keeping this menu exciting and diverse. From quality of ingredients, presentation, and polite and helpful staff there is noquestion why this restaurant has been so successful and carries such high regard. Our server Barbra was an absolute delight, clearly a server with experience in quality dining and cares for customer experience. We will be returning time and time again.Well done. Read more

My husband tried to explain to his French students the difference between going somewhere to eat and going somewhere to dine.... This is a restaurant where you dine. Fabulous experience. The atmosphere is perfect with views of the lake and intimate chicsetting. The food is so delicious and sophisticated. Everything we ate was a work of art and danced on my taste buds. My onlyregret was not taking pictures of each course. The service was superb. Our waitress was so attentive to our needs. They don'trush you in and out. Such a relaxed atmosphere where you can vist and enjoy your company. This is a family owned business. They are so warm and welcoming. The menu is always evolving as to the season and the chef's creative mood. So while they havethings that are always there, there is always something new to try. They will also customize meals for your dietary needs.Absolutely incredible! Read more

High end food with a Peruvian twist! We enjoyed the coconut ceviche, gnocchi skewers, Chilean sea bass and Jambalaya. Pricey,... with somewhat slow service at peak rush, but sooooo good. I enthusiastically recommend, but want to be honest about what toexpect. Make sure you grab a reservation, the dining room gets crowded, and I doubt you'll have luck with a walk in. Read more

Amazing! One of the more upscale establishments in this part of SML, The Landing does not disappoint. Unassuming from outside,... the interior is modern and upscale. Our server, Barbara, was very friendly and extremely knowledgeable, explaining what localfarms had provided the ingredients for each dish. We started with the lobster and avocado salad, which had five large chunks ofbuttery lobster accompanied by avocado and grapefruit slices. My hubby had the jambalaya which, although unconventionally servedwith macaroni instead of rice, had heaps of jumbo shrimp, chicken, and andouille sausage bathed in a delicious, creamy sauce andtopped with shredded Parmesan. I was intrigued by the Peruvian section on the menu, which includes ceviche, but also aji degallena, a dish which a Peruvian friend has been kind enough to prepare for me on a few occasions. The Landing’s aji degallena is nothing like that which my limeña friend makes, but I thoroughly enjoyed it, not despite the differences, butbecause of them. Although a small portion, the combination of shredded chicken sandwiched between layers of citrus mashed potatowas quite filling. Just to be sure, we also split a side of the spicy Asian cucumbers, a fun salad tossed with peanuts, freshherbs, and chili powder. As if the food (and Crabbie’s ginger beer — yum!) weren’t enough, the picturesque settingimmediately on the waterfront (with a steady stream of diners alighting from their boats) reminds you that this is a specialplace! We will definitely be back! Read more
