This is truly the best country style breakfast in Texas! The Pig and Whistle is a shining jewel hidden amongst the winding... country roads of Ladonia, Texas. Not only is the wait staff eager and friendly, but they genuinely care about their customers-treating each person like family. The environment and atmosphere is reminiscent of Grandma's kitchen and makes you feel rightat home from the moment you enter the door. My food was delivered to my table piping hot and easily exceeded all of myexpectations. Hands down, THE best breakfast experience I've had apart from home. I would recommend the Pig and Whistle toeveryone... It's well worth the drive! Read more

Great food!! I had to have their fried bologna sandwich, and it was just like I remembered it when I was a kid but they hit it... out of the park! It came with a potato casserole that was just as incredible. My wife had a salad with grilled chicken, and shesaid the ranch was incredible and homemade! On our second visit we ordered a hamburger and the special of the day, street tacoswith pozole. The hamburger was perfectly seasoned as well as the fries. The tacos were very good, and the pozole was amazing!! Read more

I just happened to be talking to a fellow ham radio operator friend about the Chaparral Trail, and he mentioned that there was a... restaurant in the tiny town of Ladonia, that he'd seen decent reviews about on Facebook. I looked them up and downloaded themenu. To my surprise they served SCHNITZEL!! I grew up in Germany, so that excited me. I called to verify they offered it everyday. A sweet lady told me "Yes, we sure do. Just got a fresh delivery of meat this morning". So, I told her I'd be theretomorrow. I made plans with my friend to meet me there. It was about an hour drive for both of us. Was it worth it? Yes! Bestwaitress I've had in a very long time. The owners come out to check on your satisfaction. What more can you ask for? Nothing! Itwas delicious, and we had a great time. Take the back roads and take your time coming and going, and you'll have a great time, even if coming from a long way. They are open for breakfast and lunch weekdays, open for supper time on Friday and Saturdaynights. Sorry for the long review. This place is the gem of this tiny town. I will be back! Read more
