My husband and I just had lunch at Scoobs today. His Potroast sandwich was very good. But I had a Chef salad and I had to take... out several lettuce leaves because they were wilted . I did tell the waitress and she offered to bring more lettuce which Ideclined. I just think that it was a poor job on behalf of the kitchen to serve this especially at 6.99 for a salad that had notmuch more than lettuce, shredded carrots, chick peas and a few cucumbers. This is the best fish fry I've ever had! I order the half portion, which is the size of most places regular size!! The beer... batter is perfect! Crispy outside and no "raw" batter - just crispy goodness! And the fish itself is so thick, meaty and white!Honestly, they have a huge menu, never had anything I didn't love. This establishment was recommended to us today. I was absolutely amazed at the size of the beer battered fish fry, the... crispiness, the taste. Homemade sides and fries generously placed on the plate. Just like an old fashioned fish fry. And thebeer prices were reasonable not outrageous like it a lot of places now. Second time I have been to Skoob's. Laid back atmosphere that is family friendly. Appetizer of the hot pretzel was delightful.... The pretzels never got hard even when they cooled down. Their homemade cheese sauce was delicious. It had a white Americancheese type flavor which I appreciate when most cheese dips tend to be cheddar. The deviled eggs with jalapeno and candied baconare a must have. It's great to share and they have a great balance of sweet and heat. The fact that this restaurant makes theirown blue cheese and fresh cut fries makes a quality difference you notice. They also hand bread their chicken fingers. It takesyour normal pub type food to a slightly special level you do not find everywhere. The chicken wings were great and crispy butnot overcooked and they came with a lot of fresh carrots and celery as did the fingers. One poor aspect of my visit was theSpecialty Cocktail menu. My impression is that these are out of date and the correct cocktail recipes are not being used basedon the drinks we were made. The one I ordered was awful. It was like drinking fire it was so strong. My husband couldn't evendrink it. It was not just the strength but it just tasted like straight booze and nothing else. It was hard to accept the $10price tag for each cocktail that went to waste. However, lots of friendly staff and food at this restaurant and I wouldcertainly recommend it to friends and family....minus the cocktails. Read more
The fish fry are the best in town! I've been looking everywhere for a good fish fry that is crunchy without getting soggy and I... finally found it! The sides are plentiful, and the dinner is huge! ***Edit: Finally got to come back and it's better than everwhich I never thought was possible! Had the chance to have a peanut butter martini (pictured), and the house made apple breadpudding (sorry didn't make it to a photo before devouring) you don't realize what you miss till you have missed it! Alsofriendliest staff around, and Skoob stopped by (socially distanced of course ??) after recognizing us, always nice to feel sowelcomed. I can't wait to bring my son back in, this is by far his favorite place and he's a pretty picky teen! They have a wayof making everyone feel like family ???? Food was good but not served hot. Ordered roast beef sandwich with wings ...both were barely warm. Also a few patrons at bar... were vaping inside along with one of the bartenders who appeared to be their friend. Waitress was nice n very apologetic. Not afan. Read more
