Bartender was rude for no reason, I?m guessing she was just having a bad night but when we tried to ask for a drink, she threw... the money back at us and cussed repeatedly at us for not tipping. We always pay in cash and we told her that we always tip thejar because that?s were we assumed cash tips go but she did not believe us and told us to leave. Asked the bouncer if designated driver's had to pay their $10 cover too. They told me yes, but no problem I paid because I was... out for a friend's birthday. As soon as we leave they single me out saying "Oh thats the DD" to the 2 other coworkers out theredoing... Honestly not sure why they were all out there. Sure, I wasn't driving everyone else in our group, some of which werebeing safe and taking an Uber. But for a bar to be so publicly rude to someone acting responsibily shouldn't be in business,especially not near a university like Texas Tech. Bouncers mean mug you and act like they don?t care. I?m convinced they?re mute and deaf because they don?t talk. Bartenders are... cool though but the drinks are too expensive for small containers. If you?re around, try Chimy?s instead. Only reason why Iwalked into this sad excuse for a bar was because I didn?t wanna deal with the long lines at other bars. For absolutely no reason I was treated like utter garbage by a bouncer, bartender, and a manager named Adam, within a space of... 20 minutes, at Mesquites Bar and Grill in Lubbock, Texas. Might have been because I'm older than their traditional patron andageism is common practice at Mesquites. I've lived in Lubbock for 35 years and Mesquites managed to provide me with theabsolutely worst experience I've ever had in this city, or any other place I've ever been, for that matter. I wish I could write about my experience, but I can't because I couldn't even GET IN!! Hours posted on the door said 5:30 pm. My... husband and I killed 2 hours waiting for 5:30 only to show up and the doors were locked. Called their number, no answer. The sadpart is we arranged our summer vacation to come here specifically to have dinner. Husband went to pillot training at Reese AFB35 years and we came back to reminince. 6:30 pm came and went and you still were not open!! What the hell. Do you do business ornot? Read more
It?s a fun environment but drinks are pricey and the minimum card charge forces one to get 3 drinks at once if you wanna close... out then and there. Be wary and those keep receipts and keep an eye at your bank statements. Lines can be long which I believeis some sort of phycological thing they do to make the place look more ?poppin?? than what it really is inside. They allowmultiple people cut while you?re literally next in line and hinders the movement of the line. Place feels like it?s going tocollapse on you and if it?s a rainy night best believe there?s holes all over the roof that haven?t been repair so the floor isconstantly wet and water drips on you.
