After spending a few days in Mariposa and Yosemite, we planned on ending our trip with a visit to the Butterfly Creek Winery. We... checked out of our room at 9:30 am and the winery didn?t open until 11. We really wanted to check this place out and taste/buysome wine so we killed time until they opened. Their website shows that they are open Tuesday through Sunday. It?s a long driveout in the country and not easy to find. When we got there about 11:30 am two friendly barking dogs greeted us. There were carsin the driveway. The winery was all locked up with a closed sign. It was clear to us that they were there as we saw movement inthe windows and the dogs barking was very loud. WE looked around the grounds for someone to help us but no one came out.Considering we drove all the way out there (gas was $5.69 gal) and came during their business hours, we felt very insulted thatthey completely disregarded us. It was so obvious that they were there and we took it as a big eff you that they wouldn?t atleast greet us and apologize for closing without notice. We waited about 20 and finally left. It was so pleasant to talk with the owner Bob (agree with the other review - probably the most cordial person around this area)... and hear his personal stories: one-man winery, encounters with wild lives, time with family inside Yosemite ? The owner is one of the most cordial and inviting people I met in Mariposa. My girlfriend and I thoroughly enjoyed talking to... him and hearing his stories. We absolutely loved our visit to Butterfly Creek! They were so friendly and fun to chat with. We tasted five different wines and... all were fantastic, and the property is beautiful! This was a must-stop during our week in Yosemite Valley. I also ordered 12bottles to be shipped to my house and so glad I did! Read more
The owner was incredibly friendly and a great conversationalist. My mom and I loved chatting with him while tasting the wines.... Cute dogs are a bonus! The path in is just a bit tricky to drive. Read more
