On today's episode of EVIE EATS ?? Mentor Avenue Family Restaurant in Painesville! Missy and I had no idea what to eat and I... had remembered passing this spot many times on our trips to Target & Trader Joes. Today was the day! A little chilly outside soa diner sounded perfect. We ordered...a lot. This is what happens when we skip breakfast. 1. Mentor Avenue burger with soup &salad bar 2. Tuna melt & fries 3. Club sandwich with soup and salad Soups: Chicken noodle, cabbage vegetable, & beefbarley. The pictures speak for the quality. Our favorite local greasy spoon. Excellent food and service all meals. Nice breakfast buffet. The restaurant has been able to... keep prices reasonable, which is highly appreciated. By the time I got my food, the rest of the table was already almost done. I ordered the special, "stuffed french toast", and got... french toast with just frosting on top. When i asked why it wasnt "stuffed", they said the frosting was the stuffing....despiteit just being on top. Apparently they dont know what the word "stuffed" means. Used to come here alot. I don't think the mixing of reviews is appropriate. This restaurant was originally called Favored Flavor Family Restaurant. It... was recently bought out by Mentor Family Restaurant. The reviews here include the Mentor Family Restaurants previous location aswell as pictures. The new owners have of coursed raised the prices and switched up the menu some, but I don't think it's fair tocompare. Read more

Service was great, had Ice tea unsweetened. Waitress suggested a small amount of heated sugar water to sweeten it up more... evenly. Great selection of items. Thing I like best is the soup. Ended up eating so much soup that I could barely touch thesandwich I ordered which was massive. Great value! Read more

Not very good. We ate there on a Friday around 4:30 p.m. The salad bar was small but fine (veggies were fresh & numerous... dressings to choose from), actually the only good part of the meal aside from the garlic toast. The soup which was part of thesalad bar tasted like generic canned soup. I had the cabbage vegetable and hubby had the chicken noodle. Both were very mushy. My entree: (Smothered chicken) - the chicken was very overdone at the bottom and dry, veggies were mushy, though the mozzarellacheese which topped it was a good quality. I ordered mashed potatoes without gravy and it arrived swimming in gravy with verylittle potatoes. Hubby's entree: (Southern fried chicken) - meat was over done and he said it tasted like frozen Banquetchicken. His baked potato was fine though, and as I previously mentioned the garlic toast was good. Overall, it was a verydisappointing meal and we will not return. Read more

Went about one on Wednesday. Not many people in the place, but no staff masked. Not great on Dec. 15, 2021. Food was good for... what it is. Yep got the chicken fries steak and eggs. Eggs were done correctly steak was ok, more chopped than normal cubed, amushroom omelet that was good. Issue... Hostess should look at customers and ask where they would like to sit especially if theymove poorly. Closer is usually better. Anyway, the service was not good. Our server was dismissive at best then too busy talkingbehind the bar to bring our toast out and forgot the juice, then she disappeared at the end. She alone forced the 3 starrating. Also, how many of you would like a salad bar included in your afternoon or evening beeakfast? I know I would and itwould not hurt food cost at all. Just a thought. Read more
