We went during lunch. It was busy but we were still able to find a table. The tables are very close together. The staff is... very nice and friendly. They have different specials every day. We got the chicken and dumplings and the chicken fried steak. We got Mac and cheese, collards, butter beans and candied yams for our sides. All were very good but would definitely trysomething else because there were so many other items on the menu I wanted to try. Read more
The food was good. I didn't care for the mashed potatoes with gravy, didn't taste homemade. My husband loved the cornbread. The... fried shrimp was good. Something has changed with this restaurant and I am not sure the reason. I write this review in hopes for improvement, Mama's... used to be one of the best! I have had a couple hit and misses in the last year so I stayed away for a while to see if it wouldimprove... On my to go order today...the service was good, food came out quickly. The issue I have is with the taste of thefood. The brown gravy for the country fried steak has a bitter burnt taste, the mac and cheese is more like bland butternoodles. My first visit a few years ago was amazing. We arrived a few minutes before 2. Today, the food came out cold and overall was not... good except the banana pudding. The banana pudding was award winning. I told the server about our cold sides and we ask for areplacement side and she came back with a few fries that were warm and said that's all they had. She also offered to warm oursides up. The food was not fresh because even the shrimp on the po boy and grits were room temperature. Read more
What a fabulous experience we had at Mama?s. Our server was warm and attentive with just the right amount of chit chat. Another... person also helped out when our drinks ran low. Was excited to try this place. Cute inside and the service was speedy. Too speedy. I get that some people need a fast lunch but... this was crazy. My fries tasted like they'd been heated in a microwave and my husband's lunch tasted like it had been sittingout all day. I don't know anyone who would rather have it fast than good. I'm willing to wait for fresh cooked food. No betterthan a walk up fast food joint. Except here, you have to tip. Read more
