I ordered ordered tempura yam, smoked salmon nigiri, spicy tuna rolls and spicy salmon rolls. All were! excellent!! Waited 20min... for delicious and fresh tasting sushi! Coming from Edmonton I have been craving good sushi for a long time and this definitelysatisfied my tastebuds! Pleasant service! (Side note: I'm used to East Coast spicy Salmon/tuna rolls plain with the spicy mayosauce drizzled on top- these spicy rolls were spicy interior (no spicy mayo) but equally delicious! Read more
Had take out last night and it was very good. Their California rolls had REAL crab NO imitation stuff, we also had the shrimp... and avocado rolls, salmon sashimi and nigiri were all exceptional. The rest of the group had the spicey pork and chickendonburri bowls and said they were awesome!!! Read more
Simple but always exceptionally delicious, it's nice that they don't try to impress you with fancy looking rolls but instead... give you quality. Their rice is always cooked perfectly and their ingredients taste really fresh. The price is right too.Probably my favourite sushi place in town. Read more
The prices are more expensive than a lot of places in town. The tofu was inedibleit was slimy and had some weird coating on it.... And I've eaten a lot of tofu and loved it. Something was a little off with the rice as well. there's just so many better sushiplaces in town Bistro taiyo, sushi waa, umi is my top. I haven't been here for YEARs and decided to grab some sushi while my partner was in class at VIU. I was pleasantly surprised... that they had quite a few more options than just sushi. I ordered the tonkatsu ramen with spicy pork. The broth was great, theeggs were a bit overcooked. I'm giving the restaurant 4/5 because I asked for taiyaki with my order and got takoyaki instead.Not a big deal because I like both, thankfully ???? I'd go back for the taiyaki alone ???? Read more
