This is the true essence of an old English pub. We arrived on a dark and foggy night so we did not get to enjoy the gardens, but... I have been told they?re quite lovely. The interior decor is very warm and welcoming, the staff is very nice. The food was tastybut not quite what I expected and based on other reviews and pictures it looks like they?ve cut back a bit on ingredients. I hadthe scotch eggs and it was quite different than previous guest?s pictures posted. It was just okay. If they could ramp up thequality of the food, this would definitely be a five star. Read more

Great place for British Pub fare. The servers and prices were good compared to other British Pubs I've been too. I ordered the... daily soup ($8) which was chicken lemon but tasted more seafood soup. It wasn't bad at all, it was good. The mushroom and beefpot pie ($19) was excellent and comes with salad and potato salad. It was also $5 less than other British Pubs I tried. Fordessert I was looking forward to the bread pudding. Unfortunately this is where it lost a star. I didn't realize it hadrum/alcohol in it, but I don't mind a slight hint. However it was very overwhelming in flavor, and ruined the flavor of thebread pudding. Also the bread pudding itself wasn't good even if there was no alcohol. Otherwise I enjoyed the soup and mainentree. Great ambience, atmosphere and service. I would return but I'll skip the bread pudding next time. Read more

Super quaint pub in an absolutely idyllic setting. Extremely friendly service, good food, and (according to an Irish friend),... the best Guinness outside of Ireland. To be totally honest, I've had a lot of Guinness over the years, and while it was alovely pour with a clover on top, it didn't taste wildly different/better than the rest. Still, any pint is a welcome one, andthe atmosphere is fantastic! Read more

Great spot ! Traditional English pub. Stopped in for a pint and some nibbles. The smoked salmon chowder was great?not too... creamy. Hubby had soup of the day with roast beef sandwich. Said the bread was so fresh, and the soup was scrumptious. Also hada Guinness and a hazy IPA. Check out this spot, beautiful gardens if you want to sit outside. Nice clean bathrooms. Our serverChristie was fabulous. Read more

This out-of-the-way English-style pub, for adults only (as they announce very clearly), is much more ?authentically? English... than anything else we have found on the Island. The outdoor garden, where you can sit on nice days, is very pleasant, relaxing, and lovely. The food is pretty good for pub food, including decent warm French, er, ?English? dip beef sandwiches and yummyburgers, and quite decent wine. The salad that comes with these dishes leaves something to be desired ? the dressing is toosweet! ? but the Caesar salad is decent (some actual anchovies, however, wouldn?t hurt). The service is excellent and pleasant.Lots of servers working very hard, and even when they do make a mistake, they quickly rectify it. Overall a very pleasantexperience, but again, don?t bring the kids! Maybe that?s a good thing, or maybe not. Read more

PROS: - Food is very good - Ambiance is great - Service and staff are friendly and efficient. - Dietary and allergy needs are... met when requested CONS: - Drinking water does not taste nice. Needs to be filtered through an RO - Benches without a back restinstead of chairs make it uncomfortable for seniors. OVERALL: Nice restaurant if you can sit on chairs instead of benches. Read more

A lovely English Style pub that is worth the trip to get to. We went in Sunday and had the roast beef Sunday special. The... Yorkshire pudding was light and fluffy, the beef tender and the portions were huge. We could have easily split one portionbetween us. The serving staff was great, friendly, gave good recommendations about the different local beers for my husband totry. The gardens are lovely, we came later in the day and didn?t have time to wander the grounds but will next trip. Read more

Stopped in for lunch at 2pm. We were lucky to get a table. We had the ploughman plates and they were absolutely delicious. Ample... portions ( far too much for this old guy to manage.) Service was quick and professional. The Scotch eggs were very good. Highlyrecommend for a traditional pub meal. Read more
