This place was perfect! Really worth the price. We ordered their $38 special that came with a variety of things, they were all... delicious. We also ordered 5 pieces of crispy rice sushi which was a must. The slices of fish were thick and melted in yourmouth. Wanted to compliment the aesthetics of their dishes as well, the presentation was neat. The service was also superfriendly and non-intimidating. I will be coming back for sure!! Read more

We always stop by Ootoya to eat when we visit NYC. It was recommended by a Japanese friend. Delicious and authentic Japanese... food, great service and value. Beef sukiyaki nabe, tofu salmon nabe, beef potato croquette are our favorites. Read more

The food is really good. The portions are fair, enough to satisfy but not enough to get you very full, which is adequate. The... sake I ordered was one of the best I have ever had, outstandingly smooth and just the right amount of sweet. Would definitelycome back to try other dishes. Be advised the service is somewhat slow, so don?t go if you?re in a rush. Read more

We heard that this restaurant was having a special lunch course in honor of their 10th anniversary and came to try it. It was... absolutely delicious! Every dish was great and by the end we were quite stuffed, really worth the price. The decor was alsobeautiful and the service lovely, we left with zero complaints and the desire to come back again soon. Read more

10 year anniversary special set is a true ?arigato? to the customers. I love every single dish in this set, staring from the uni... tofu appetizer to the unagi bowl, the sukiyaki and the three different kinds of grilled fish, and finishing with the sweet crownmelon. Even the pickled daikon is super delicious - it?s marinated with yuzu juice. The set brought me back to some goodmemories. Read more

Their hot dishes are pretty nice although they are kind of sweet and over seasoned. The atmosphere and service is decent. I felt... comfortable during my dinner there. :) I would go again. Read more

Fantastic Japanese restaurant that we came across in the city. We are here during restaurant week and tried 2 preset meals. The... food was great, from the appetizers, side dishes, main course to the dessert. Everything was very flavorful and delicious. Wegot the Sukiyaki Gozen for $39 and the Unagi Gozen for $59. I really enjoyed both meals, but at the end of the Unagi entrees, Istarted to get tired of the taste. If I were to do it again, I would go with the Sukiyaki. It was perfectly seasoned and had alarge amount of meat, veggies and mushrooms. Also, the service here was spectacular. The servers were very personable andattentive. The interior and decor was simple but elegant. I would definitely recommend this place! Read more

Went during the restaurant week and the place was relatively less busy than we thought it might be. We couldn?t order the... restaurant week menu though due to dietary restrictions. We got the crispy rice sushi, shishito peppers, kaasan ni (chicken hotpot), tori koruzu an along with chocolate nigori and hot wine. The food was okay. Shishito peppers were not as well salted as weprefer. We probably didn?t order the correct dishes. It is a bit expensive but after leaving a tip we realized it?s a no tippingrestaurant, which makes the prices reasonable. The vibe of the restaurant was quite nice. Read more
