We were planning to go to Horn BBQ but it didn’t open, with craving BBQ we found Smokin Wood BBQ, and so glad we found it!... First they have a full bar and the drinks were really good. We got boneless chicken thigh and brisket, and both were sooodelicious! The sides collard green was my favorite, Brussels sprouts was a bit underwhelming but also not bad. I'll give them a 5. I'm biased as it's my family but the ambiance, TVs, outdoor seating and warm service from the staff only... supported my rating. Love their BBQ ribs...Mac and Cheese...well everything. Everything was delicious. The sweet heat sauce.OMG! I wanted to buy a few bottles to take home. If visiting the Bay Area you have to visit. Technically these folks nailed it. The bark was tasty and thick, the smoke rings were deep and perfectly pink. All in all the... barbecue was one of the best I’ve had in the Bay Area. However, they lost it in the details. The dish was served under temp,which gave the meat a perception of dryness. The point of the brisket could have used some more trimming. The collards were oversalted and a little undercooked. If these folks can nail down the small stuff, they van really make it happen. Also, for abusy Sunday, the service was great:) Read more
Excellent bbq we ordered the big meal w 5 meats 4 side, the rolls so soft and buttery. We were staying locally and pretty much... did want to deal with the traffic and parking so we decided to have our dinner delivered. It was a bit pricey but once we hadit, it was totally worth it! Delicious peach cobbler too! Grub hub forgot our pie, they sent someone else to bring it to us.Good thing because it was great! Totally recommended you try them. We ordered vegan and of course their staple q’s. Everyone was pleased. Ilisha was superhelpful getting our large order correct. The two cooks in the back banged out our order precisely and fast. Sandwiches & certainbbq sauces were not available that day so we quickly modified my colleagues orders and made them platters instead. Parking isstreet parking. They have indoor and outdoor dining. THIS IS THE BEST BBQ IN OAKLAND!! The meats are so delicious you can taste the effort that went into every detail and the sides... are just as amazing!! Normally you go to some bbq places and the sides are just an after thought but not here, they are onpoint. I can’t get enough of this place! The food here was amazing! It's hard to find good BBQ spots in the Bay Area and this is coming from a Bay Area native. This spot... is one of the few good ones. I thought the entire meal was excellent. My favorite dish was the pork ribs and the biscuit was sogood I ordered 4 more. The drinks are strong too here. I will be coming back. Read more
