We have eaten at Black Jack Saloon which is five stars to me and decided to try their sister restaurants. Came in and it was... small burger joint, not super clean. Have a nice size menu with shakes and dessert options. Ordered the plain hamburger thatsays it comes with lettuce and tomatoe but just came with a burger on a bun. Nothing else. Also ordered the UP burger. Asked foreverything to be cut up due to disabilities which it was not. Burgers come with nothing. Writing this review in hoping management will see. Growing up here in Old Saybrook Jack Rabbits was my favorite restaurant as a... preteen, as I got older I switched over to the Rabbit Hole which is still in my top 3 favorite restaurants of all time. Being amanager myself at local restaurants, I will say I?m losing hope in this place (Jack Rabbits). (Rabbit Hole is amazing,especially Scott, he?s the best server, even remembered my order as I was a regular there) But on the other side of that wall Iam very disappointed, unfortunately I mostly have time to do takeout now a days because I work many hours. Last night 9/11/22 icalled to order two things for takeout at 7:15pm. The phone was busy so i decided to wait til 7:30pm to call back. The line wasthen not busy anymore, but they were not answering. I called over and over again til finally the server decided to answer and Isay i would like to place an order for takeout. She was unbelievable rude and said ?you better get here before 8pm, because i?mlocking the doors at 8, and then you?ll be asked out? I am dumbfounded. If any of my servers talked to our customers this waythey would be fired instantly. I don?t know if they are taught this way or they weren?t trained on customer service but i havetried many times to get takeout between 7pm-8pm after visiting my parents to take home with me, seeing I live an hour away fromSaybrook now. They never answer. My restaurant closes at 8pm as well, and we take orders until 8 pm. I told the girl that I wasonly 5 minutes away and as I showed up the phone was ringing and she again ignored it. My total was around $30, gave her $35told her to keep the change, in hopes that she will learn to appreciate the customers, because without them supporting thebusiness, there will be no more business. Gormet food in a casual environment with indoor and outdoor dining. Great vegetarian and pescatarian options, as well as... burgers, hot dogs & the best fried chicken sandwich. Service is absolutely horrible and that doesn't fall on the waitress that helped us, she probably was only 16, that falls on... management who fail to train their employees correct. Poor girl had no clue what was on the menu, never checked in on us to askhow the food was or refill our sodas. She failed to inform us that they do not wrap burgers in lettuce only they put it on a bedof lettuce and failed to mention that sweet potato fries were not a side included with the burger but a separate charge. Neverasked how we wanted our burgers cooked. There was no one else in the dining room and none of the other two employees bothered totrain her properly. I also believe a manager was on duty and after she heard me questioning the bill, she didn't even bother tohelp. The service was absolutely awful and I will never return to this establishment for dining in, it's clear they prefer takeout orders instead of customers in the establishment. First time trying this place. We got take out. There containers are very nice they look biodegradable. We got the garlic... parmesan chicken wings. They were good,but I'm not sure if the mixed the different wings and put the sauce on them because I hada wing that was really hot ???? and I didn't ask for hot or spicy wings. The next wing was fine not a trace of heat or spice.The third one was hot again but not that bad of a burn like the first one. I liked the sauce but not the uncertainty of what wasunder it. We also got a couple of kosher beef hotdogs. I forgot to take a pic I was so hungry....sorry. The hotdogs had a goodflavor but for the price I probably try something else if I were to go again. I like a nice toasted bun on both sides. This bunwas cruncher on one side but no toasty color. The other side soft. Just an average dog for me. Read more
