It's been many years since I last dined here. As wonderful as I remembered. The menu was fascinating with many interesting... options. This instance I tried Southern California Burrito. Steak medium rare and very spicy. I also had Spanish Rice andsmashed beans. Everything was excellent although it could have been spicier. I also had the top shelf margarita but this wasokay. Great atmosphere and friendly staff. Parking was easy. I wanted to dine outside because it's October and the eveningWeather was pleasant. Overall it's a wonderful dining experience. Sing me a song of sangria. If you are looking for a fabulous lunch spot with good daytime drinks, look no further. Mango shrimp... salad and appetizers are wonderful. Let me give one warning, this ain't your typical Mexican fare. This is elevated, west coaststyle Mexican food served with flare. You're gonna love it! Read more
I wanted to take my daughter's out for lunch, they picked this restaurant to go eat ( 1st time for me). This was some of the... best Mexican food I've ever tasted. I told my husband how good it was, that we went back several days later for him to taste toget his own opinion. The staff was wonderful, our waitress was attentive and polite both times. I have to give Cactus Flower five stars for their outstanding service! The place was full but our server was attentive and super... friendly. The food was excellent; the salsa and chips were some of the best I?ve had anywhere. I also like that they have artfrom local artists displayed on the walls. Cactus Flower Cafe in East Hill! The owner took our to go order on the phone; she opened this place after moving from... California to try to help with the?we?ll say lacking?availability of cultural food in Pensacola. She delivered! The chickenenchiladas (pictured first) were hands down the best enchiladas I?ve ever had. Order them. The SoCal burrito (pictured second)was fantastic as well as enormous, the picture doesn?t show a good angle but it was about as big as a plate and loaded withsteak and potatoes. The refried beans were fresh and not greasy and the lime rice was like a premium version of what you?d getat Chipotle. Not pictured was the guac which was the best I?ve found in Pensacola. I too moved here from California (a trend?)and this is about as close as it comes as far as freshness and the ?west coast flare?. A clear cut above the other Texas-themedMexican joints around here. I think some of the local trucks adequately hit the CA street food vibe (Tacos Mexicanos, ElAsador, etc), but this place had all the comforts of your classic family owned Mexican restaurant in California that usespremium ingregients and homemade recipies. I will be going for a run tomorrow though. The restaurant is a sweet vibe too witha coffee shop attached to it - all open until 9. Do you know that feeling of pure unadulterated anger when you get home with your pick up order and realize that somehow only 50%... of what you ordered made it into the bag, and you just wanna tell the dude in the kitchen it?s not hard to read a ticket and putthe food in the bag. **** me for not checking the bag before I walked out I guess.
