We went for my birthday dinner. We had the octopus appetizer-weird sauce, but it was ok. My husband had the ahi tuna dish. Very... delicious. I had the filet mignon. Also very good, but the side order of Demi glacé was weird. It did not have mushrooms in it;was too thick and had a weird, ginger taste. I had to ask the waitress if it was what I ordered. My son’s NY strip was notgood. Too much gristle and fat. It looked like a cheap cut of meat that you would serve at a chain restaurant, not a specialtysteakhouse. The crème brûlée was nice. Last weekend I brought a date here for dinner, and did nothing but talk the place up until we got here. This would be my second... time eating here and the first experience was amazing!! When we arrived, we were seated immediately (we had reservations). Thewaiter came over shortly after and he was awesome. We got our orders in, and we both went for the filet mignon with sides of macand cheese. Our salads came out within a few minutes and they were delicious. Our meals, however, took over an hour to receive.When we finally did get our steaks, I cut into mine and noticed that it was raw. Not medium rare like I ordered, but raw to thepoint that I couldn't even attempt to eat it. My date's steak was more on the medium rare side even though she ordered itmedium, but she wasn't too concerned. I hate sending food back, and after waiting so long, that's the last thing I wanted to do,but there was no choice...I couldn't eat it as it was. My plate was taken away and my waiter was super apologetic. When my platecame back, it was the same steak, with the same piece that I had previously cut off of it, on the same plate that I sent it backon. This isn't a chain steakhouse so I wasn't really expecting that, but I didn't care. All I wanted to do at this point was eatand go home. When I cut into my steak this time, there was still a large portion that was raw. I ate the parts that I could, atemost of my mac and cheese, and got the check. The mac and cheese was decent but nothing special really. My waiter apologized upand down although none of this was his fault. I couldn't believe how poor this experience was after having such an amazingexperience the first time I visited the restaurant. I wouldn't expect this kind of steak from Longhorns let alone a nicersteakhouse like Prime. The food was excellent. The prices were fair for a steakhouse. The restaurant was packed now in the off-season on a weekend... night. The service staff was attentive. Unfortunately, we had to wait 1 hour and 35 minutes for our steaks from the time that weordered them. What a shame. Obviously, they did not have enough cooks. Make your reservation at 5:30 or 8:30.
