Rodger Brown- known for the name perhaps, makes people wonder about this establishment. It's nothing spectacular, took about 7... minutes or more to be seated, no one to greet you when you walk in, those that do walk by just look as if you're invisible. No,they weren't busy. Our waitress was friendly, food was just okay. I ordered a mushroom and swiss burger, bun was hard & cold asif toasted and waited for burger ???????????. The meat was seasoned good though, I had to wait additional time for mayo. Thesteak quesadilla was bland and jasmine rice, hard- unknown additional $2 for a side that he didn't even eat. Always heard ofRodger Brown restaurant/bar, well it's okay; something different to do, go to but could be better. Read more

Not pictured: cheese curds which were delicious! I had never had a batter on cheese curds like theirs before. Reviewing 4 stars... because 2 burgers were ordered the exact same way (medium), but one came out very pink. The fries were delicious along with themashed potatoes! Read more

Meal was great. Southern traditional menu I had grilled pork chop, loaded mash potato and collars with honey corn bread. Real... sweet Iced tea. Others had flank steak or catfish and crab cakes. As down home as any meal I have had in years. Therestaurant is huge and open and comfortable. The waitress was pleasant and attentive. Prices more than reasonable for thequantity and amount of food. Highly recommend. Read more

Large space. Friendly staff. Good food. Right near water in Downtown Portsmouth. Stage for live concerts. Will return again!

I attended a luncheon for one of my co-workers, the service was very slow, but the staff was nice. I had the California salad... without the craisins; my order was accurate and the salad was pretty good. The restaurant seemed short on staff, as a lot ofplaces are. It took a while to get drinks (water) refilled and I finished my meal before some of the people at my (7 of us) table received their meal. I've been here 4 times and only returned because my co-worker wanted to come here. I'd never comehere as a personal choice. Read more

I got the Buffalo wings and she crab soup here. 0/2 for a good crab soup in Norfolk at this place. The chicken wings were... decent. Sauce was pretty basic and they were fried well. Whole place looks like it came out of the eighties and hadn't beenupdated. If you're looking for a good local restaurant with good food is suggest looking elsewhere. Read more

Got the hangover burger. Rule of thumb is to always get the burger if it has an egg on it. It was good but disappointing.... Ordered medium but it came well done. Also egg was cooked through instead of runny yolk. That might just be the way they cookthem. Will ask for runny yolk next time. Hamburger was tasty and well put together though. Went back and got the half and halfbasket. Delicious. Ribs and shrimp. Live music on some nights. Read more
