Visiting from New Jersey with my 17yr old daughter for a field hockey tournament. We were looking for good food with gluten-free... options in the area of our hotel. Found Toast on google and checked out the menu to see it had a bunch of GF options. Uponarrival, the hostess immediately seated us in a nice spacious booth. The waitress quickly came over with water and answered somequestions we had about the menu. The atmosphere was relaxed, not too loud yet plenty of people and an all-around cool vibe. Mydaughter ordered a burger, which she loved and it came with sweet potato tater tots (whatttttt!!!) which she is still talkingabout today! I ordered the dynamite shrimp, which was made gluten-free and was superb quality and very nicely garnished. I alsoordered the turkey avocado sandwich on gluten-free bread, which was amazing and it came with sweet potato tots which were(insert mind-blown emoji here) mind-blowing. Lastly, there is no truer test (in my opinion) of a great bar than how theyconcoct a simple, but classic bourbon cocktail... the Manhattan. Toast did their job here! The ingredients were spot on, theprocedures were in place and the presentation was correct. If I wasn't driving, I would have had a few more! I am not sure howthis place has only a 4.4-star rating, it's 100% at least a 5-star place. I am fortunate to live in an area that has a ton ofgreat food and I can wholeheartedly say that if Toast was located at the Jersey Shore, I would be there at least once per week. Read more

Drinks are fabulous. Food is super good. Love the ambiance. bartenders r super nice. If ur in the area, stop in for a bite.... Drinks are half the price of normal places. Go see Paulina and get your drink on. This was from noon to 2pm. Enjoy! Also I wentback at shift change, say 6pm and they were packed, did not stay. But I'll go back in the daytime. Came here for brunch because the menu looked great and some different flavors. Took a while for our server to get to our table;... then when we returned her question with “doing well, how are you” she seemed underwhelmed and said “….managing Iguess”. That should have been our first sign to turn away, but we all have rough days. She brought back water but seemed verypreoccupied. We ordered the Chesapeake omelette and the Pulled Pork Benedict. Took around an hour to get our food and she made acouple comments about how “the other food before yours is up; but yours hasn’t been put out yet” and “I’m going tocheck on your food, it should have come out a while ago”. Places get backed up, I’ve worked in the industry, but it wasdefinitely a bit odd. We received our food and there was absolutely zero flavor. The textures were present but the pork was dryand unseasoned; the sriracha hollandaise had no heat, and the egg was over cooked and rubbery, like a marshmallow. Had tonearly drown my hash browns in salt and pepper. The biscuit (even though it stated it was suppose to be on an English muffin),was tough and overcooked. I wanted to believe that maybe I had just made a bad choice of dish; until my friend mentioned herswas awful as well and didn’t have any flavor and seemed dry. Tried a bit of her Chesapeake omelette and the only notable tastewas the onion, which was barely cooked and crunchy. The crab and shrimp tasted old and bland. $50 wasted unfortunately. Theideas of the dishes are definitely solid, but the execution was heinous. Won’t be back. Read more

I’ve gotta say that this was an incredible place to come for brunch/lunch. Each of us ordered something different to try it... all. I got the fried chicken sandwich and it was made *perfectly*. The outside was crusted well and the inside melted into yourmouth. The spicy was incredibly balanced as it was good but not too spicy. I also tried some tastes of the Parmesan trufflefries (they were top tier) and the chorizo burritos were to die for. I got the Oreo cake and some banana pudding for dessert. Iusually don’t eat that much, but given how good all of the food was, I wanted to try a little bit of everything. The serverwas also extraordinary. It was cool to watch him match our order to a T without ever writing down a single word (except for oneperson getting hash browns instead of tots in a 5 group party). It had an amazing atmosphere. It had TV’s (playing surfchannel), but it wasn’t in your face. It felt like a more relaxed and chilled out bar atmosphere. The only real drawback wasthe price. Of course, that’s expected from an upper scale restaurant, it was decently pricey. Overall, would highly recommendyou try this place if you’re in the area Read more

Ended up at this place by accident. My car was in the shop for repairs when the city shut the place down for a gas leak. Needed... somewhere to spend a few hours. Glad I did! For the longest time I didn't even know this place was a Pub, but then you would notthink it was given its unassuming strip small location. Walking in you are instantly transported out of Suburbia and into avery nicely furnished wood paneled bar and dining area. Staff were very attentive and polite, and happy hour goes from open todinner time. Yay! I went basic and ordered the burger, and it was so good I had to take a picture. Excellent presentation, rightamount of meat to bun and topping ratio, and the bun was delicious. All the little things that set great burgers apart fromsomething you expect to find at a fast food joint. Even better, the fries were also delicious and not your generic frozencrinkled you would usually expect. Considering how busy the place was for lunch I can only conclude the other items were just aspopular. Everyone around me seemed to have ordered a good mix, and the place was packed on a Thursday afternoon. Excellentestablishment, with a keen attention for detail. It's the little things that set places apart. Even more tempting had it notbeen so early was their massive selection of whiskey. They have alot, and the discerning eye noticed a couple bottles that arehard to find. The owner of this establishment is clearly a man of culture and taste. My one minor gripe was that the musicvolume was a tad too loud for a Thursday afternoon lunch, but that is a gimme and probably a result of a staffer fat fingeringsthe button. 5 stars! Read more

A classic RVA bar and grill with some fun options. A few items of note here and there but not a wow experience by any means. 2... entrees and 4 drinks ran us $90 with 20% tip. TLDR: If you want a clean and tasty bar experience with quality American fairand atmosphere not centered around TVs this is a good option. Tots, brussel sprouts, and the smoked old fashion are great. Solid choice for happy hour. It's good, but not our date night go to. We like to go there before escape rooms asRavenchase. Food: It's classic Americana food options with small twists here and there. Nachos (most options honestly)aremassive so be prepared. We've eaten here over a half dozen times. The food stands up to its price point for the most part. Never disappointed really. Apps: They come in large portions which is nice. An app and a drink here makes for a fun happyhour. Crab nachos are great. Drinks: This is where they shine. Lots of local craft beers. New cocktails rotated outregularly. You'll always have an option. Maybe a little pricey but they are good. Dessert: Haven't tried them so I don'twant to comment. Atmosphere: It's a bar, but cleaner. Nothing thrilling but thankfully not centered aroundsportsball. Staff: They are very friendly and attentive. Read more
