Reviews for Abyssinia Restaurant in Rochester, NY
Every dish was a complete success. The collards and cabbage in particular were amazing. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and... unabashed. Strongly recommended. Note, though, to allocate extra time. While the food is fantastic, it is not fast. Itseemed when we went that a single woman was cooking and running front of house. She was friendly, though, and the 30 minutewait was well worth it. Easily the best vegetarian options I’ve had at an Ethiopian restaurant. They’re friendly and personable, the food is... amazing, and their honey wine is delicious. You can pick up to five different dishes with their vegetarian combo. Kind of bummedthat I didn’t come sooner, but happy I’ve tried it! Read more

The second time back here. Very delicious food. The service is a little bit slow but it deserves to wait!
Food was amazing. We got the vegetarian dish with 10 different meals, each with great flavor. We also got sambusa the beef... option, very tasty and filling. Nice quiet atmosphere, friendly staff, and definitely would come back again! Read more
This was my first time eating Ethiopian food and I think I have found a new favorite kind of food. The place has a nice relaxed... upscale hole-in-the-wall feel to it. Their tea and their plater for two were delicious, convenient and well portioned. Myboyfriend is vegetarian and I am not and we were still able to share the special perfectly. It was obvious that they weregrossly understaffed, so we waited patiently and were treated politely by the sole person that was running the place. Please, bemindful and give them a chance! As someone who worked in the food industry during the pandemic, be appreciative that at leastone person is trying their best to serve you! Read more
Good food. It was a different experience to eat without utensils. The sambusas were to die for, definitely a must try!
