Glad to have a new business open at the place where previously occupied by a popular firewoods causal Italian spot. ... Unfortunately, the owner seems not interested in investing at this place. The furniture are so cheap and poorly made, they arealready worn out in a less than a year since opening. The food is also disappointing. The place has a wood fired oven but theydid not utilize it. We ordered a cheese stick as appetizer and a pizza to share, plus some cocktails. The cocktails were toosweet. The cheese sticks came with the tomato sauce. The sauce was not homemade or in the good quality, it has no herbs andthe tomato favor tastes artificial. The pizza used the same sauce and the mushrooms were also from the jar, which was placed ontop of the pizza after the pizza was cooked. The crust taste like cardboard. We both took one bite on both appetizer and thepizza and left and could not take another bite. What a shame. Read more

The majority of what was ordered tasted great! The person taking my party’s order mixed up the salad we actually ordered and... forgot to put in our entree order (both of which were comp’d for their mistake, thankfully). My favorite dish was the citrussalad (which we didn’t actually order) and my least favorite dish was the pizza with sausage and mushrooms. Read more

Unfortunately, one of the worst pasta experiences I’ve had in my life. At $20 for a vegetarian pasta dish, I had high... expectations: great noodles, or at least a generous portion size. I got neither. Check out the photos – the portion size wasso tiny that our whole table laughed in disbelief when they brought it out. There were probably about a dozen rigatoni total. Ifit had been incredibly tasty I could have forgiven the small serving size, but it was some of the worst pasta I've ever had– significantly undercooked. I've had al dente pasta in Italy, and loved it; this wasn't al dente, it was nearly raw. I haveonly nice things to say about our server. When I told him about the problem with the pasta he promptly had it remade and removedfrom our bill, and sincerely apologized. (The kitchen did not redeem itself on the remake; I just didn’t have the heart totell him that the replacement he brought out was just as undercooked as the first one.) Other notes: - The centers of our friedpasta balls were cold ($10 for two 2” balls) - The Pizza Fritta was amazing. Prepared like a deep-fried calzone (which was notmentioned in the menu description, but a pleasant surprise.) - The table knives had brightly colored cheap plastic handles, making them look like children’s toys. - They were out of spaghetti (at 7:45pm on a Sunday) as well as all of their seafooddishes. The restaurant leaves a lot to be desired and although there is no indication that it’s still in soft opening mode but it sure... felt that way by the extremely long wait times from seating to being served. Seems as though the small kitchen in the front isstill the only part that is really doing any of the cooking and would’ve thought with a new restaurant opening this would havebeen adjusted and made larger to be able to serve dishes in a timely manner. From the start the seating was very disorganizedand priority was given to groups that were not completely there or just larger than our party of 2. When we were finally seatedwe had already reviewed the menu enough so we placed our order then and there. Little did we know that we would have to waitover an hour for our last dish to arrive. Overall nothing stood out to us as special here. The show when the hot pasta wasthrown in the cheese wheel was probably the highlight, along with the mini fireworks display the large party got for a birthdaycelebration (unsure if this was done by restaurant or party), otherwise not a place we’d return. First night open, and all I can say is that this is a great addition To the Castro! Service was a little hectic and slow as... expected, but the staff was apologetic and still smiled. I appreciated getting to know Alessandro and Sanaa tonight and evenmeeting The Mom! All the staff made me feel like I was back in Italy. Mi Manchi Italia. Food I had: Fried appetizer sampler: asampler plate of one piece of each fried item. Recommend this so you can try each piece. I loved the fancy mozzarellasticks...forgive my ignorance of what it actually is called. Agrodolce salad: delicious. I love this type of salad, and it wasnot overly dressed. The pomegranate seed adds a nice bite and crunch. Simple enough. Calzone: highly recommended! Large and caneven feed two people if you have had appetizers. It comes with a side of arugula, which isn't dressed. I requested something todress it with, and the server brought over olive oil with their label on it. Warning: the meat packs a salty punch. Have aglass of water close by. The cheese and tomato sauce helped cut the salty taste though. Chocolate cake: deliciously smooth, andthe almonds were a great touch. At times I couldn't tell if the almonds were also chocolate bites. It was crumbly, and the fruitdrizzle added that piece of tartness that was needed to balance out the intense chocolate flavor. Tiramisu: ok, this was notbrought out as advertised with the espresso carafe. So bummed! Nevertheless, it was delicious, and the cthe espresso flavor wasquite different from what I had tasted before. The cake layers were spongy and felt delicate; it was much more than a Ladyfingersituation. If you want to try the tiramisu, I would encourage you to buy this. Drink: I ordered the tropicale. So this isadvertised as having Serano peppers added to it, and they were not lying. Each sip had that sultry burn of pepper, and as Iswallowed each gulp, my throat was coated with warmth and spiciness, and it did burn. Yes this was tempered Read more
