So steak and shake has gone to portal ordering only. There is no more wait staff. You pick up your food at the counter. I... felt the food was sub par and our shakes were more whip cream than shake. Schererville location. Not sure if all steak and shake are like this, but being met by a kiosk is so uninviting. Personnel was... nice. My daughter worked there about 6 years ago and she would have 6 and more tables to wait on. Not even one waitress orwaiter?? Get your own food and seat yourself? I'll just go to macdonalds! This was so sad. No wonder parking lot is not full anymore. You used to have to wait to be seated! Food was so greasy. Never again!! Read more

I love this place. Our server Michael was absolutely wonderful. He was very patient and attentive. The prices were good and the... food was excellent. I couldn't ask for anything more.
