I?ve passed through Schulenburg, Tx many times but never stopped for food. Yesterday I stopped with friends and ate at the Real... Deal Soul Food Restaurant and it was so good! I had pork chops cooked and seasoned to tender perfection, tasty sweet yams, verywell seasoned cabbage and creamy mac and cheese with cornbread. The money I paid was well worth the amount of food Ireceived. If I had to state a negative, it would be that the young lady taking orders seemed to be alone. Once the restaurantgot crowded she could?ve used some help. She didn?t appear to be overwhelmed because she kept a pleasant attitude. It was solelyMY observation that they may need to hire someone else due to the growing popularity of the establishment. I loved the familyoriented feel. It was a very cozy and comfortable because they were friendly and hospitable to every person who walked in andout. The owners of the restaurant hugged the customers they hadn?t seen in a while and everyone who walked in stated how theyloved the people and the food. (I heard I must try the hamburgers next time!) Great place for old fashion soul food
My buddy and I was stopping through and looked across the street from Holiday Inn and went in before closing and they were very... nice people and welcomed us with love. It was closing time but they still took our orders and prepared hot fresh food. Ifyou're looking for genuine soul food and great hospitality this place is the place. I'm from SC never had that type of teabefore but whatever it was it was different from how we make but really good. If I ever get close 5o this area again I willdefinitely drive back through to it.
