Like so many other places nowadays, they were short-handed, and illness may have been a factor in that short-handedness, but we... were there for over an hour before our food arrived. Other parts of the service experience were sliw as well. Once it did, itwas good, though. We hadn't eaten in an El Chico in a number of years, but used to quite a bit when we were dating. We don't getto Shreveport much, but I would consider giving them another try if fully staffed. Read more

I love this restaurant. I've been going here for nearly 20 years now, and it is never dropped in quality. Despite being busy and... currently understaffed, the food was delivered to the table quickly and accurately. I highly recommend it for anyone looking foratmosphere and a delicious meal. They can easily accommodate a large party, or make dining alone feel special. Do yourself afavor and check it out on Sundays for a brunch spot option if you're looking for a different experience. They're understaffed yet you can see the staff step up and shine. The GM Ms. Dana bus tables, answer phones, run food and stays... personable while engaging all customers. There are daily specials, but not on Monday. The food is fresh and remains consistentwith taste. Inflation aside....their prices are steady with the market. Sign up for their emails and you'll get a heads up onthe deals. Highly recommend fajitas, apple pie, the Wednesday enchilada special and tortilla soup never disappoints. Read more

I haven't been there is a long time, but decided since I was close by I would pop in for a to-go order. To my surprise the food... and service was excellent. I may be dropping in more frequently. The black beans were delicious. Read more

Outstanding service and food. The three burrito lunch was very good. The flavor of each burrito stood out. The refries were... tasty. The rice was bland. The nachos were very good. They were like small sandwiches. (See photo). The guac was tastless. Read more

We had forgotten how very, very good El Chico was and still is! The best hot sauce and ships in the city! They don't require... that I cham them done with something to kill nasty so hot you can't breathe sauce! It is perfect! A nice kick but not a blazinginverno.Their taco soup was huge! Could have fed 4 people ! Delicious finally enough chips to be a real taco soup. I had thebeef and shrimp fajitas. Excellent! Hubby had beef tamales also very good. Our waitress was excellent there when needed and notclingy.Shirley deserved a good tip and we didn't disappoint. Can't wait to come back and try some more of my favorites. Onething did need attention. Their rice and beans needed some kind of seasoning. Maybe a touch of tomato for rice. And a littleonion for beans. I. Would of settled for some garlic salt for each. So when you are seeking great Yex- Mex, try El Chico Theyhave been around and know how Mexican food should taste! Read more

This was a sad visit. I ordered the two burritos and taco meal...as you can see from my photos the burritos were not much bigger... than my finger, so not a burrito and it seems as if someone forgot to add meat to the taco as it was mostly cheese. My wife andI ordered the exact same meal and for the 2 of us to eat this microsized version of food was $36 plus tip...the other reviewsthat say go up the road to Ponderosa are correct. The flavor of the food was ok at best, strongly reminded me of a $5 microwavemeal. Read more

Worst experience I've had in a long time! Waitress could not scratching in her nasty hair. Then handling everyone's food. We got... up and left after ordering. I was wondering why such a good family restaurant that's been around all my life has gone so fardown hill. Won't go back ever. Read more
