I just went to this restaurant and it was nice till we sat and i found some werid string in the salsa they gave us and then... there was some black thing in my water and then the sprite i ordered was so watered down i didn’t know it was sprite whitchwas fine but then i found plastic in my taco so yea that was my experience made sure to send my plate back but fyi this placeain’t that good Read more
Nice Mexican restaurant. Ample Parking in the rear. Clean and great service. I ordered the shrimp and blue crab enchiladas and... they were delicious. They used a yellow cheese, which didn't melt as well as a usual white cheese would but they had a goodflavor. Nice interior and it's spacious. Enjoyed a skinny margarita too. With a name like Mexicali Cocina my family’s expectations were modestly high. However it appears that the food is not the... focal point for this location. 3 people in our party ordered the seared ahi tacos, after years of traveling and eating at finerestaurants in over 10 countries the person in the back calling themselves a chef should be sued for fraud. The tuna was verypoorly seasoned and the sauce on top was bland. However the tamales i had were quite good compared the real deal. The watermelonmargatini which this restaurant is known for was far to strong to be enjoyable. I was not impressed with this restaurant. To start our visit... Parking is in the back so you walk in through the back of the... restaurant and of course there's no one to greet you, so we kind of walked aimlessly hoping someone would tell us where to sit.Once seated in the front patio, our waitress offered us drinks. She had to come back and clarify what we had ordered, a dosEquis lager and a house margarita on the rocks. And even after clarifying three times, we ended up getting a dos Equis Amber andthe house sangria. The sangria was extremely sweet and not even the slightest hint of wine. The chips and salsa, the salsa isawful, tastes like watered down tomatoes. The food, the tacos and rice were very good, the beans fall flat. The guacamole thatwas brought to us, which we didn't order, just tasted like mashed avocado; not good! And finally the house margarita, verystrong, much better than the sangria but not quite my taste as I don't like the taste of straight alcohol. Big fan of this place! The burritos are all incredible, salads are huge and tasty, and the drinks are strong with great flavor!... They have something for everyone, regardless of preferences of dietary needs. Highly recommend. Read more
We went out last night to get dinner at this place and am impressed! 1. The place is in a good spot wherein people can go dine... in or grab dinner, better parking g area and its spacious. 2. Our server, James is his name. He's very pleasant, friendly andprofessional. 3. Food: nachos and salsa, salsa itself is so good, it's a little sweet and spicy it's just balance and I like it!I also had wine, the pinot grigio which is just right for my taste bud. My main course, grilled steak with rice, black beans anda corn tortilla wrap with sour cream, cilantro and guacamole. Meat is well done as I requested it's SO delish! I even try to putthe salsa on my steak and it's good. And for my last drink, mango margarita which completes everything.
