We have tried many other Japanese restaurants in the neighbourhood. Have ordered here a few times recently and can safely say... this is the best. Fresh, very good quality food. Real wasabi. I ordered from here for the first time last night. I've had sushi from many places before but this place was a bit cheaper so I... decided to try it and was not satisfied. you get what you paid for. the salad was such a big disappointment. the lettuce was oldand ugly. you can see my pics. I threw the salad out in the trash as it was not worth eating. black spots all over it. noquality at all. sushi: I got the veggie combo and it was alright. quality was again low compared to other places I'vetried. miso soup: I honestly don't know why the miso soup had an offputting taste. it was just OK but could be better. I don'tplan on ordering from this place again. it was a waste of my money. another weird thing is when I placed my order on uber, itsaid order is being prepared but literally a few minutes later it said wrapping up which i found weird because how are youalready wrapping up my order? it usually always take time for orders to be prepared from other places I order from. Food is cheap here but you pay for what you get. The fish was not not the freshest and texture was borderline rubbery. The rice... in the nigiri was a giant clump and was pretty tasteless. We also got a few appetizers like fried gyoza and springrolls butthey tasted only a bit better than frozen pre-packaged stuff. The service was good so I feel bad giving such a low rating. Buthonestly I did not enjoy my meal. I would pay a bit more to have better sushi elsewhere. Read more

Fantastic fresh sushi, followed my food allergy request, and even gave me a mochi gift! If you're ever able to pickup some food... here don't hesitate. Two thumbs up!! Thank you! Finally picked up from Goen - great spot! Fish was super fresh, generous portions. The nigiri was really good and the rolls were... all good. Not too rice heavy, a lot of good food at a super fair price. Will be back! Read more

I placed an order for takeout for the ?Sushi Bar Tray E? and it was delicious! We replaced the California rolls with the hamachi... avocado. When we came to pick it up, the waitress was very kind and quick with the transaction. They also gave us 10% off forpickup as they were promoting their soft opening. For the food itself: the sashimi was fresh and the nigiri and maki rolls weregreat! We finished the tray so quickly and it was super satisfying. Would definitely come again for take out or try dine-inbecause the place looked so cozy! Read more

Today I ordered their Chicken Katsu Bento along with sushi and sashimi. I grew up and lived in Japan for 30 years - Goen reminds... us of a quintessential neighbourhood sushi joint we used to go to when we lived there. Food was very fresh, flavourful and weenjoyed everything as always. Simple food prepared well and service is always very pleasant and homey. We live in the sameneighbourhood (lucky us!) so we always order for pickup at their website and walk over (we're glad we don't have to use thosefood delivery services - they might be ok with processed fast food but not the best option for this type of freshly cookedfood). Today the hostess said they are finally open again for indoor dining. We often say "do you want to do Goen tonight?" andwe'll do Goen again next time in the restaurant. Delicious sushi - rice is perfectlycooked and fish is fresh. Chef trained and worked for many years in Atami (well-known resort town near Tokyo). Hostess (alsomany years of experience in Japan) is friendly and fun to chat with in Japanese. Read more

By far the best delivery sushi I've had and some of the best sushi overall in the GTA. Everything was super fresh, great... portions and excellent value. They have a good selection of creative Maki rolls and I appreciate they cut them into 10pcs sothey're smaller and easier to eat. Everything qw ate tasted exceptional, can't wait for dining to open back up as I'lldefinitely be heading back! Read more
