I can’t rave enough about my wonderful experience! I ordered 2 beef and 1 chicken empanadas as appetizers and they were... absolutely delicious! They were much bigger than I anticipated and came with a homemade salsa. I ordered the lomo saltado andOMG hands down the best I’ve ever had. I’m from CA and have had lomo saltado before but this place is the one to beat!!Portion was great (I shared w my partner & we were both full.) Our waitress was so friendly, attentive, and welcoming and madefor an even better experience. This was my first time in Des Moines and Mi Patria was the last meal I had before heading back toCA. It was such a great way to end a memorable trip. I hope to come back soon:) Read more

We visited Iowa for the first time. My family is from Ecuador so when I saw Mi Patria, I had to try it. The food was fantastic.... Super authentic and delicious!! The hornado was just like my grandma makes back home. Also the staff was so nice. He was the sonof the owners and was very personable and friendly. I’d def recommend to anyone! Read more

I hadn't been here in over 5 years because I am not from the area and the food was just as good or in fact even better! Sara... served us and she was very friendly and the service was fast. I will definitely go back when in West Des Moines and hopefully itwill be sooner than 5+ years! Read more

I absolutely love any kind of seafood and their dish called Arroz Marinero..Saylor's Rice is loaded with Shrimp, Mussels and... Octopus all stirred into Yellow Rice that is made with Achiote, Garlic, Onions, Green and Red Pepper and a few secretingredients and served with Salsa Verde and Fried Plantains. Their portion are large enough you will ask for a togo box and haveplenty left for another meal. So good and so tasty Read more

Love this place! The food is unique, interesting, fun, tasty and not as scary! The menu has a variety of different protein... options and vegetarian options, It has some spicy some not spicy dishes and excellent descriptions! The wait staff is helpfuland professional! The atmosphere is laid back, quiet but could also be elegant and romantic! I'm bad with remembering the namesof the dish I've eaten but this time I had chicken, lentil beans, yellow rice & plantains. My friend had the fried shrimp. Ialso had an apple soda from Ecuador. EVERYTHING WAS SO GOOD! I'm not a big fan of beans but their's are special with the lentilsadded the texture is totally different! The chicken was super juicy! YELLOW RICE IS SOMETHING SPECIAL! I will go back! Next timeI plan to start with dessert!0 Read more
