One of the best dining experience. The ambience isn't fancy yet inviting. The hosts and servers were kind and friendly. I did... not have a reservation on Friday eve. They were busy, but the host maintained smile and did her best to sit us at the table inno time. Sushi and the soup were tasty and delightful. Thanks Akai for making my visit memorable. See you soon! I went during their lunch hours and had a great meal! The roll ("NY Knicks Roll") was $14 and the sashimi platter was $16.50.... Considering the quality and taste these were great prices imo. The meal came with a small cup of miso as well. Service was verypolite. My only criticism is that the booths are very obviously worn out and should be repaired/replaced. Otherwise I'ddefinitely go again. Read more

We ordered two appetizers. My girlfriends came out in about twenty minutes which is fine as it was a busy night. I asked the... waiter where my appetizer was. He said they are making it. It was a tuna roll and an eel roll. Even on a busy night shouldnot take long. Twenty minutes after she are her appetizer mine was still not out. I took the check for the one app and drinksand left without eating and being at the table for about an hour. Not going back Read more

Nice interior, nice and professional staff, but super slow kitchen on a not busy afternoon. Fish quality is just okay. Ordered... spider roll, the softshell crab part was good. Sushi rice not seasoned appropriately to be "sushi rice", but this is a commonissue for most sushi restaurants in the US. Read more

Scrumpdiddlyumptious! Excellent cocktails and sushi/sashimi! This spot wasn't busy around lunch time on a weekday. As walk-ins,... hubs and I were seated right away with our choice by the window (better for yelp pix!). I was immediately all smiles whilesipping my refreshing and heady Akai Gold Rush whiskey-based cocktail graced with Canton ginger and lemon juice on the rocks .Then their Akai Tuna Salad, well-balanced and tasty Super Rainbow Roll with eel inside, and fresh Sashimi platter are the onesto get! We left super impressed and full with zero room for dessert. I can't wait to bring my friends and the rest of my familyhere! Kanpai! NOTES/TIPS: **Excellent service. Full bar! **Vast menu including omakase, katsu, noods, and more and a very legitkids' menu of teriyaki, tempura, and udon. **Municipal parking (50 cents/hour) across the street, behind Bovella's Bakery and atseveral other spots Read more
