One of my favorite places up on the hill!!!! The food and the service is always 5 stars. Great place for the locals to hang out... at the bar, and for city folk to spoil their special someone to a white tablecloth fine dining experiance! I came in tonight inshorts, t shirt, and backeards ballcap rubbing elbows with CEOs and hillfolk. No judgment, 0 pretensions... Im going to missthis place when it closes for good next week!!! Wish I had the money to buy the place!!!! Come in while you can!!!!!!! Read more

We had a wonderful dining experience they had so many things in the menu we wanted to try that it was hard to choose and both... the cocktails and mocktails were delicious. We sat by the window and it felt like we were dining in the redwood forest, I willdefinitely be back once I’m in the area again! Read more

I don’t know where to start with this review so I’ll keep it short and simple. I am so glad The Mountain House reopened.... They had shut down during Covid-19 and refused to change their biz model to take outs & deliveries. When they finally reopened,I could see why. The ambience is to die for. Absolutely ensure you sit in the area overlooking the forest. Tons of parkingavailable. The food is gorgeous, an adjective I usually reserve for people, but in this case, the food deserves the adjective.Well curated menu. Great service. Flavors that pop. I couldn’t find a single thing I didn’t like. I got the Vanilla BreadPudding and it was so good I almost cried, which explains why there’s no photo of it in my review. They have a daily specialsmenu so ask for it. We got the Alaskan Halibut and the Roast Chicken in lemon caper sauce. Divine. Read more

Amazing place with great ambience and exceptional service. If you want to enjoy cozy evening dinner with your loved ones then... this is a must go place. Visiting around sunset is preferred to enjoy the forest look and would recommend to ask for forest sideseating. The restaurant puts in all the efforts to please the customer with food and service. Good place for romantic dining Read more

I’ve had my eye on this quaint little place for a few years. Last Friday we finally made our way up there. Right off the bat,... the charm of the Santa Cruz Mountains pulls you in. The rustic cottage facade of the Mountain House against the soaring redwoodsis an astounding sight. The dinning room features decor and styling similar to the fine restaurants of yesteryear, and opens uponto a stunning sun room with panoramic views of the forest. Our waiter was Wade. A well spoken and seasoned service member ofthe Mountain House. He was very attentive and knowledgeable regarding every last item on their eclectic menu, I guess 26 yearsof passion and dedication will do that! We had the Wild Boar Pierogis-a fantastic twist on the Eastern European classic. Wefollowed them up with a slice of the pecan pie and the Lavender Panacotta. The latter of which perfectly strikes the hard tobalance floral flavor. Overall-a magical trip- Read more

Came on a Wednesday evening to celebrate our daughter's new job. Beautiful ride up and not much traffic for 6pm. We were greeted... warmly by everyone and seated in the forest room, which has spectacular views. Started off with a lightly, crispy calamariappetizer and a bottle of the local wine, Kings Mountain cabernet 2013. We were a party of 3, so the appetizer was a bit small, but okay because I knew we'd be ordering dessert. We ordered 2 skirt steak entrees and 1 rib eye steak. All 3 were tender, juicy and cooked to perfection. The vegetables were prepared al dente and the mashed potatoes were smooth and creamy. Also, ordered a shitake vegetable soup, which was tasty and well seasoned. We finished dinner with 2 shared desserts. The portionswere generous. The creme brulee had a smooth texture, perfection on sweetness and a beautiful carmelized top. Pretty. Thechocolate browny was to die for. Rich chocolate sauce, but not overly sweet. Fresh vanilla ice cream topped the decadent butterychocolate browny. The entire dessert was topped with freshly whipped cream sprinkled with lightly candied walnuts. Went to foodheaven tonight. Even my picky husband was satisfied. Thank you for a lovely dinner. Will be back. Read more

This place was amazing! Definitely ask for the glass room when you make reservations and you can get a beautiful view of the... forest. Extra points if you book as the sunsets to see the orange through the trees. I had the elk medallions which wasextremely tender and cooked perfectly. The sweet potato mash was also excellent. My wife had the special of the day, which wassalmon, and she loved it. Our server, Brett, was very helpful, and while busy, still made time to check in on us. I willdefinitely be coming back here the next time I'm around. Read more
